Shakespeare in the Streets brings Sonnet Walks to Bury Festival

Over the weekend of 15 and 16 April we helped audiences discover the romantic side of Bury St Edmunds, bringing Shakespeare’s Sonnets alive in a modern context.

Having already brought The Sonnets to the streets of New York, London and Liverpool we created a completely new show for the Bury Festival with a host of local professional actors, artists and musicians.

To see photos from our weekend of Sonnet Walks in Bury, as well as reading some of the fantastic feedback we got from audience members and the full text of The Sonnets performed click here.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part in our Sonnet Walk, whether performing a Sonnet, or enjoying the route with carnation in hand.

What Audiences Said About The Sonnet Walks in Bury St Edmunds

We learned some really interesting little snippets about Bury en route, looked at the place more slowly and with different eyes, looking up more. Even when we began to expect the unexpected, the performances were brilliant… It’s amazing how well Shakespeare fits into today’s world, it felt very real and relevant.
